Glen Cove NY Yellow Pages

Glen Cove is a city in Nassau County on the North Shore of Long Island. Joseph Carpenter purchased around 2,000 acres of land just northwest of Oyster Bay from the Matinecock Indians in 1668. Along with his partners, Nathanial, Daniel, and Robert Coles and Nicholas Simkins named the new settlement Musketa Cove. A saw mill and grist mill was constructed at the area that is now known as Glen Cove Creek. During a public meeting in 1834 the community changed the name to Glen Cove. Shortly after the Revolutionary War several industries moved into the area such as the Duryea Corn Starch Manufacturing Company. The Glenn Cove City Union Free School District serves the area with 4 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school. The city is also home to more than 10 miles of waterfront, two nature preserves, 3 public beaches, a public park, and a public golf course.
